YOU CANNOT HAVE A RELATIONSHIP IF YOU DON'T MEET IN PERSON
THE SYSTEM says that you actually have to get in front of her to have a relationship. THAT SOUNDS SUPER OBVIOUS RIGHT? Not to the reader this week. Nope, he did everything via text and social media AND NEVER MET HER IN PERSON. He was shocked when it didn't work out. You can't make this stuff up...

I really like Susanna, who is 20, and it’s complicated to say the least.
Here’s the story. Susanna and I met on a dating site. We’ve not yet gotten together in person, but I’ve been talking to her for what feels like a long time. We talk loads over social media and we both reply to each other within a matter of minutes. We’ve been saying goodnight to each other with kisses at the end of the messages.
One evening when we were chatting normally over Facebook and she was with friends, she said she didn’t want to speak anymore and just wanted to say good night. I got a little annoyed and told her I felt that she was leading me on a bit (I was a little drunk too, which didn’t help). She didn’t see the message until the next morning, and when she did she told me it had “really hurt her” and that she just wanted to keep us as friends.
I was very upset and left it for a day. Then I contacted Susanna and asked how she was and apologized for my behavior. She told me she accepted my apology, but because of what I said to her she knew for sure that she just wanted to keep us as friends and nothing more.
Doc, I feel her friends may have made this decision for Susanna. She and I have started chatting again, and yesterday she was sending me kisses again and acting really flirty.
I really dig Susanna and want it to work. I think I had a big chance with her before I screwed it up with what I said to her. What should I do now?
Should I just leave it alone and not speak to Susanna to make her realize how much she likes talking to me? Should I somehow try to make her jealous? Somehow I have to get her out on a date, but I seem to have dug myself a hole that I don’t know how to get out of.
Ryland - who doesn’t want it to end before it begins
DOC LOVE'S ANSWER IN A SECOND BUT FIRST...
When you meet a girl on a dating site, you should go back and forth for only two or three emails, then you GET A DATE. If you go on emailing longer than that, she’s a waste of time. She doesn’t want a date -- she just wants to talk to some guy!
Talking to each other constantly over social media is a horrible idea. You’re just slaughtering Challenge here, pal. There is no distance in the relationship. There’s no playing it cool. And you’ve never even seen this girl face to face! Like my cousin Fast Eddie Love from East L.A. says, “You’re getting all wound up over nothing.”
But you’re ending your messages with kisses! So let me get this straight. You’ve never been out with this girl and you’re sending her kisses. Don’t you think that’s a little strange, man? Don’t you think that’s going a little too fast?

Susanna wanted to say good night when she was out because her girlfriends are more important than you are, and you don’t realize that. Of course she was leading you on, but you shouldn’t have brought it up. You should have dropped her instead. This girl only wants to be your pal and chat over the internet. She doesn’t care about seeing you face to face. Dude, you can’t even get a first date with this chick!
Now let me explain something to you. Susanna can’t be hurt by you because she doesn’t even like you. To you Psych majors, a girl has to like you in order for her to get hurt. She might have said that she wanted to stay friends, but you were in the Friendship Zone from day one with her. From the very beginning she had no romantic feelings for you. Like my Uncle Jethro Love says, “You were just a guy to shoot the bull with over the internet.” In other words, stroke, stroke, stroke!
Ryland, you should be upset. You should be upset with yourself because you messed everything up. You should get “The System” ASAP and figure out that you’re going out with a stroker here, and that means a girl who only wants to talk to you over the internet and never see your face in real life! That’s obviously her agenda. But since you don’t have my book, you’re clueless.
Think you have what it takes to succeed by just reading these articles? You don't - these articles give you an insight into how I think but you need my book so if you really want to be successful with women you need THE SYSTEM. Still not convinced? Read my "YOU CHANGED MY LIFE" letters.
Susanna knew for sure that she was going to keep you in the Friend Zone the first time you contacted her. Her friends had nothing to do with any of this mess. It was all YOU. You never got a date with her, which was your fault, not the fault of the girlfriends. Oh sure, Susanna was acting really flirty. And maybe the two of you can talk on the internet for a year or a year and a half and then get together in real life!
Ryland, you’ve never seen this girl, you know nothing about her, she’s a complete stranger, and you want to make her your lover? Guy, you never had a chance with this girl. Like my cousin General Love says, “From the beginning, you were dead in the water.”
What should you do now? Throw away Susanna’s number and get my book overnighted or take advantage of an immediate download of the book in written or audio form because you don’t have a clue. And you can’t make her jealous because she’s never even seen you!
When you said you seem to have dug yourself a hole that you don’t know how to get out of, you finally spoke the truth. Here’s what happened: you got sidetracked in the Friend Zone and by yakking on the internet, and there was never any action. Susanna was just gaming you all along. And one more thing – she’s only 20, and you know what I have to say about that!
Remember, guys: if she just wants to chat on the internet, get rid of her.
